About the event
Chandi Maa is the Great Goddess who brings balance to all the worlds. She comes in times when the Earth and all Her children are being threatened by forces of greed, violence & ignorance. She is known for the harmony, beauty, and peace that She restores within and around us. Chandi is Durga, She is Kali, She is the Wrathful Mother who on a personal level burns our karmas, and stops afflictive and destructive thought patterns and behaviors. She assists in dissolving our conditioned ways of reacting rather than responding. Her transformative fires burn through our own delusions and illusions and help us to discern what is Real. She reminds us of the refuge we can always find within the sanctuary of our hearts no matter what chaos surrounds us.
Why Chandi Maa?
There is much talk about Kali and the Kali Yuga these days, but what exactly does that mean? Most of us feel the negative and debilitating impact of our collective fear, anger and even a sense of disbelief and impotence around the Fascism that is rising in the US (and in many other places around the world.) Indeed we live in burning times and are faced with so many threats and so much violence. Sometimes we may not feel personally threatened but we all have friends, family, loved ones who most likely are one of the populations or regions that are targeted. Amidst all the insanity, uncertainty and instability, it is difficult to find our ground, BUT as many are saying, we are truly born for these times! I feel grateful that many of us have the karmas to receive thousand year old lineage-based non-dual Tantric practices from a Shri Vidya lineage that will benefit ourselves, those we love and beyond. Perhaps if enough of us commit to these sadhanas we can make a difference in the many ecological, social, racial, sexuate, and religious issues that are under attack. We can call on Goddess Chandi, also known as Durga, the Divine Mother of Justice, Courage, Strength, and Fierce Compassion, to guide us through and remind us of the many tools we do have in approaching (and in some cases fighting) the oppressors both within and without!
